Rape and Sexual Assault

Having sex with a woman/girl without her consent and will is rape. Please read and understand the meaning of consent as explained above.

Also, having sex with a girl who is below 16 years of age is crime even if she has said yes. Rape and sexual assault are crimes. If convicted, the person can be sent to prison. There is no excuse for rape or sexual assault.

As soon as you say no, then the other person must stop, even if you initially said yes. It is not an excuse for someone to say they didn’t rape or sexually assault you because you didn’t say no. Silence does not mean consent.

If you are passed out on the couch, no-one should touch you in a sexual manner.

Most importantly always remember that rape and sexual assault are never your fault.

If you have been raped or sexually assaulted, you should report to the police by calling 100 immediately. You can also seek help from the Women’s Helpline Number on 1090/1091.
